District heating for sale

The General Meeting of Budapest agreed to privatize its 50% shares package in the monopolistic district heating company Fôgáz Zrt, reported Hungarian


The waste water reservoir spreading across 25 square km with the capacity of holding 94 million cubic meter floodwater is one of the most ambitious rural infrastructural development program of the past decades, said Ferenc Gyurcsány PM. The Ft16.5 billion investment is the first stage and one of the key elements of the Vásárhelyi Plan aiming to enhance the level of flood safety in the region; altogether six emergency reservoirs would be built along the Upstream- and Middle Tisza sections. The reservoir now ready is able to decrease Tisza’s flood wave level by 25cm. The floods caused serious damage for the 45 000 inhabitants of the region; that is why the government decided to allocate more resources to flood safety; this reservoir is a part of a long-term project, added the PM. As a part of the New Hungary Development Plan altogether Ft110 billion will be spent on the Vásárhelyi Plan.
