New chairman at the Stock Exchange |
Vienna Stock exchange (Wiener Börse), major shareholder of Budapest Stock Exchange (BÉT) appointed Mihály Patai, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of UniCredit Bank Hungary as BÉT chairman, the company said on Monday (Nov 17).
The Budapest Stock Exchange’s general shareholder assembly is expected to formally elect Patai on Dec 4. “Mihály Patai is an internationally acknowledged, independent Hungarian expert. We are aware of his commitment to a cooperative work with all local market participants," said Michael Buhl, Chief Executive Officer of the Vienna Stock Exchange. “We believe our co-operation with him and the Board of Directors under his leadership will be fruitful." Patai accepted the nomination and promised to further develop BÉT despite the difficult situation. The former chairman of BÉT, Attila Szalay-Berzeviczy had to resign since the bank, which delegated him sold the majority of its shares to Wiener Börse.
