Mercedes investment still on

The 2009 Mercedes investment will not be affected by Daimler's latest plans to reconsider its global investments, reported MTI.


Daimler’s executive board announced absolute expenditure discipline for the whole group, due to the financial crisis and started to reconsider its future investments on the basis of competitiveness and usage of green technologies, said Nicole Rubba, spokesperson of Daimler. The spokesperson emphasized that the plans concerning the Kecskemét investment remain unchanged as it fully complies with the new aims and that it is a long-term investment.
Daimler wishes to start car production according to earlier arrangements and plans to distribute Mercedes produced in Kecskemét in the area, she added.
“All investments promoting future competitiveness and the usage of green technologies and also those planned in India, China and Russia treated with absolute priority while the ones not being able to promote competitiveness directly have to diminished or re-scheduled,” Daimler added.
