Europe’s largest open-air ice rink: City Park’s open-air ice rink, Mûjégpálya, has been around since the middle of the 19th century.
Those who don’t own a pair of skates can rent them at the small skate shop inside, but check if they haven’t run out of your size before you pay the entry fee. For the absolute beginners who come skating for the first time, teachers and helpers are on hand. Open until Feb 28: 9am-1pm & 4pm-8pm on weekdays, Sat 9am-1pm & 2pm-6pm, Sun 10am-2pm & 4pm-9pm. Ice skating in Buda: Probably the tiniest ice rink in town awaits visitor on Buda side, opposite Mammuth II shopping mall, with long opening hours: from 7am till midnight every day. Széna tér, Buda, District II, behind the bus terminal. www.szenater.hu
Ice Terrace–skating above the city: Jégterasz is the roof terrace of WestEnd City Center, open until March 31, 8am-10pm daily. www.jegterasz.hu
