In order to halt unemployment the government should be following the successful European lead instead of the brutal restrictions, said Ildikó
Bernáth, Fidesz politician.
The government should decrease the key interest rate and taxes, so that enterprises would not be pushed to hold back production and to lay off workers, added Bernáth. Fidesz believes if the government continues its current policy next year the number of unemployed will rise by more than 100 thousand people in Hungary. The cabinet had two possibilities recently to do the necessary steps when accepting the tax and budgetary regulations, she continued. According to Fidesz the recent events show that the government is not acting well to preserve workplaces. Bernáth referred to the recent statistics of the Public Employment Service (ÁSzF) according to which 58 employers dismissed 3100 workers in November. The latest statistics of ÁSzF show that the number of employees concerned in the group layoffs grew by 2000 compared to last month. The number of registered unemployed was 446 thousand by the end of November.
