Liberal SzDSz party failed to elect its new parliamentary group leader; as both nominees, Gábor Fodor, chairman of liberal SzDSz and János Kóka, former faction leader of the party, received the same number of votes, the faction postponed the decision about choosing a new leader.
The faction currently consists of 19 members, both Fodor and Kóka received 9-9 votes and one of votes was invalid, said Krisztina Gyôri, spokesperson of the party. Up till the election of the new faction leader Kóka will remain as the head of the parliamentary group. János Kóka was elected faction leader last December when he was the head of the party too; his mandate expired on December 5. Gábor Fodor the current chairman of the SzDSz announced last week that he will also run for the position. Fodor had been elected party leader in June 2008 by only two votes. Normally both position are filled by the same person in SzDSz.
