János Kóka was elected as faction leader of liberal SzDSz again. Kóka won by four votes against József Gulyás.
Apart from Gábor Fodor, present chairman of SzDSz and Kóka four other people received votes out of which only Gulyás decided to run for the position. After this Fodor decided to refrain from the election. Two rounds were held. First Kóka received nine in favor but it was not the necessary two-thirds of the votes and, in the next round, he received seven while Gulyás got only six, thus Kóka has been choosen to lead the SzDSz faction for another year. A week earlier MPs voted three times between Fodor and Kóka with no result as both received nine to nine votes. Gábor Fodor after the unsuccessful election last week suggested that both of them should step down.
