Batman is back

Latest Batman movie The Dark Knight is as rich in Hollywood stars as any former episode of the endless franchise. As for the story, Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) and James Gordon (Gary Oldman) join forces to save Gotham City from a psychotic bank robber, their most tricky enemy yet, the Joker (Heath Ledger who has only just completed filming when he tragically died died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs that included painkillers, sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medication). At cinemas from Aug 7.

Smart spy

Though the next Bond movie will reach Hungarian cinemas in November only, there is another secret agent film for the silly season. Get Smart, however, owes more to the world of super-stupid comedies than elegant British spy stories. It updates the 1960 TV series about an idiot spy and follows Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell), also known as Agent 86, who wants to uncover the evil crime nemesis called KAOS. He is not alone on this hard mission, however; Smart’s partner is the beautiful Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway). At cinemas from Aug 21.

St Trin’s rerun

SAINT Trinian’s school for young ladies, famous for its liberalism and uncontrollable students, is up to its knees in debt. In addition, the Ministry of Education wants to close the school for its loose morals. The formerly hostile girl groups in British comedy St Trinian’s, (originally a franchise in the 1950s and ’60s starring Alastair Sim, George Cole, and Joyce Grenfell, with one 1980 offering), unsurprisingly unite to save their beloved school. At cinemas from July 10.
