Public transport
Budapest’s public transport significantly changed on Sep 8. Almost 700 lines now run on new routes or have new numbers. It is recommended that you get info on terminal points in advance, or visit www.bkv.hu.
Motorways
The latest section of the M0 became open to traffic between Route 4 and the M3 motorway; consequently the traffic on Hungária körút, Thököly út and Kerepesi út has become lighter.
Roadworks
District I
Lanes in the direction of Fő utca are closed to traffic on Bem József tér due to sewage works; Fő utca can be reached by going around the square onto the temporarily bidirectional Bem rakpart, and then turning onto Vitéz utca.
Only one lane is available on Krisztina körút in the direction of Erzsébet Bridge, and that for motorbikes and cars only. Bigger vehicles have to use the bidirectional Attila út.
The road narrows from time to time on Iskola utca between Batthyányi utca and Corvin tér due to gas pipe lining.
District II
Only one lane is available in each direction on Hûvösvölgyi út between Verec sor, and Furulya utca and between Kuruc utca and Szerb Antal utca, due to water pipe lining.
District III
Expect road closures on Erdôalja út and Máramaros út, as they are being rebuilt.
On Nánási út, the road bridge above the Aranyhegyi stream is closed to all except BKV traffic; the alternate route is signposted.
District V
Veres Pálné utca is closed to traffic between Szerb utca and Papnövelde utca. Papnövelde utca has temporarily become one-way in the direction of Veres Pálné utca, and Szerb utca has temporarily become bidirectional between Egyetem tér and Fejér György utca. Bástya utca is also closed to traffic due to gas pipe lining. For the same reason, expect the road to narrow on Honvéd utca and, from time to time, no stopping is allowed on this stretch.
One lane only is available in each direction on Múzeum krt; expect frequent traffic delays on Kálvin tér.
District VII
Dob utca is closed to traffic between Holló utca and Kazinczy utca due to sewage works.
District VIII
Expect some road restrictions on Üllői út and on Baross utca between Kálvin tér and Szabó Ervin tér due to sewage works.
District XV
Pázmány Péter utca is closed to traffic between Szerencs utca and Bácska utca. All the roads
perpendicular to Pázmány Péter utca have temporarily become dead-ends between Pázmány Péter utca and Bethlen Gábor utca.
