Janesch awarded

Hungarian architect, and designer of the suspended Government Quarter project Péter Janesch was awarded the grand prize of the Holcim Awards in Madrid last week.


The award, given by the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction honors the efforts made for an environment-friendly and sustainable architecture.Janesch’s work (the design of the Government Quarter planned in Budapest’s district VI.) was picked from 332 European submissions, gaining a precedent victory, earning Janesch’s office some $100,000.Other awardees include the development plans of Slovenian town Maribor, and a Swiss design of an alpine house.
Holcim Awards are given in five different regions. The totel number of submitted applications this year was 9,000.
