Coal and firewood shortage expected

Coal and firewood demand has grown by 20% in the last couple of days due to the gas crisis, reported Hungarian online news station, InfoRadio.


As distributors did not foresee a larger demand, a shortage of coal supplies can be expected. There are not sufficient coal reserves, and as there is no Hungarian coal production, distributors need to import it from neighboring countries.
More and more households are switching to alternative fuels due to the rising gas prices and the unsteady gas service. Many family houses have kept their mixed furnaces, with a growing number of people buying stoves, too.
